With the new regulations in the taxi sector and sustainability in the environment, everything is planned so that in 2023 no pollutant taxi will remain.
The objective for the taxi of the future is vehicles with 0 emissions.
From this past January 1, 2018 all new vehicles that are incorporated into the taxi service in Madrid will have to be non-polluting vehicles. The Governing Board of the City Council already approved this year the modification of the municipal ordinance that regulates the sector to incorporate this measure, which is included in plan A for air quality.
Throughout the year, more than 2000 vehicles that are destined for public passenger transport are renewed in Madrid. In particular, the taxi sector in Madrid has more than 15,700 vehicles, of which about 10,000 are powered by diesel. Everything is planned so that by the year 2023, only ECO and Zero Emissions models will circulate. In fact, starting on January 1, 2025, these vehicles can only be replaced by C, ECO or Zero vehicles.
